Privacy Policy

Last updated: 4 September 2026

THE SHORT VERSION
  • What you track in Tapse is stored on your device. It is not sent to our servers.
  • The app needs no account, and we collect nothing that identifies you.
  • We hold an email address only if you send us one through this website.
  • We never receive your name, postal address, phone number or card details.

Midori Software ("we", "us") publishes the application Tapse and this website, midorisoft.dev. Together these are "the service". This policy sets out how information is handled.

The app and the website handle information very differently. For that reason this policy keeps them apart, and says plainly which part applies where.

PART 1

The Tapse app

The app is designed so that we hold nothing that identifies you.

1. No account

Using Tapse requires no account, no email address and no phone number. We do not collect information that identifies you personally.

2. Where your records are stored

Everything you track — activities, the names you give them, notes, times — is written to a database on your device. It is not transmitted to or stored on our servers.

The practical consequence: we cannot see what you have tracked. Not because we choose not to look, but because it never reaches us.

iCloud backup

Tapse data is included in the standard iOS iCloud backup. That is Apple's device backup feature; we have no access to its contents. You can turn the backup on or off yourself in your device settings.

3. Purchases

Paid features are bought through the App Store. Payment is processed by Apple, and we never receive card numbers or other payment details.

To keep track of what has been purchased and to restore purchases across devices, we use RevenueCat, Inc. They receive the purchase identifier issued by Apple and an identifier that distinguishes one device from another. Your name and email address are not sent.

4. Device permissions

Tapse uses the following only when you allow it. Each stays on your device, and we do not receive what it contains.

  • Notifications — reminders for when you forget to stop a timer. If you decline, no notifications are sent.
  • Calendar — exporting records to your device calendar (planned for a future version). It writes to the calendar on your device only when you ask it to.

5. Export and deletion

You can export your records to CSV or JSON at any time. Where the exported file goes, and who you share it with, is entirely your choice.

In Settings, “Restore or delete your data” erases what is held on the device — either your entries only, or everything including genres, activities and goals. Deleting the app also removes its data. There is no request to make to us, because we hold none of it in the first place.

What the App Store privacy label shows

The Tapse product page on the App Store lists one kind of data. It is handled as "Data Not Linked to You" and is not used to track you.

  • Purchases — purchase history (section 3)

We collect no crash or diagnostic data. The app contains no analytics or crash-reporting code of any kind.

What you tracked is not in that list, because it never leaves your device.

Note that this label describes the app. It does not cover the website, which is dealt with next.

PART 2

This website

We hold an email address only where you have typed it in and sent it to us.

6. If you contact us

When you email us, we receive your address and whatever you wrote. We use it to reply and for nothing else, and we delete it once a reasonable period has passed after the matter is closed.

7. Early-access sign-ups

Before the app is released we may open a list for people who want to be told when it is out. If we do, this is how it will work.

What we collectYour email address, and nothing else. No name, no other detail.
What we use it forTelling you the app has been released or when it will be, and any offer for people on the list. Nothing else.
How long we keep itUntil you unsubscribe, or one year after the app is released — whichever comes first.
UnsubscribingUse the link in any message we send, or write to the address in section 15. Your address is deleted at the same time.
ProcessorsA form service and an email delivery service. We will name them, and the country they are in, on this page at the point we start.

Signing up is not a condition of using the app. You can install and use Tapse without ever joining the list.

8. Analytics and advertising

We may advertise the app. While a campaign is running, we may place the following on the relevant pages of this website in order to measure whether it worked.

  • Google Analytics (GA4) — an analytics tool provided by Google LLC
  • Meta Pixel — an advertising measurement tool provided by Meta Platforms, Inc.

These use cookies and similar technology to collect the pages viewed, the referring source and the type of device or browser. They are not used to send your name, your email address, or anything else that directly identifies you. What each provider does with the information is governed by their own privacy policy.

You can refuse cookies in your browser settings. Google Analytics can also be switched off with the browser add-on Google provides for that purpose.

Whenever these tools are actually in place, they are listed in section 10. While they are not listed there, this website sets no analytics or advertising cookies.

PART 3

Both the app and the website

The following applies everywhere.

9. We do not share or sell

We do not provide, share or sell your information to third parties, except where disclosure is required by law. We do not use anything we hold for a purpose other than the ones set out in this policy.

The services listed next are processors acting on our behalf, engaged only so far as running the service requires. That is not third-party sharing in the sense above.

10. Third-party services we use

Running the service involves the following. What each does with information is governed by its own privacy policy.

ProviderPurposeCountry
Apple Inc.App distribution and payment through the App Store; iCloud backupUnited States
RevenueCat, Inc.Managing and restoring purchasesUnited States
Cloudflare, Inc.Serving this website and receiving email sent to usUnited States
Resend, Inc.Sending email from usUnited States

We do not currently use a form service, an email delivery service for sign-ups, or any analytics or advertising tool. If we start, we will add them to this table at that point.

11. Children

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app is designed not to collect information that identifies anyone, of any age.

12. Your rights: access, correction and deletion

For app usage we hold nothing that identifies you, so in the ordinary case there is nothing for us to show you, correct or erase.

Where we do hold something — the history of an email you sent us, or an address on the early-access list — you may ask us to give you a copy of it, correct it, or delete it, and you may object to our using it. We will verify that the request comes from you and then act on it promptly. Write to the address in section 15.

13. How we keep information safe

To guard against loss, damage or unauthorised disclosure of what we hold, we:

  • limit access to the sole proprietor of the business;
  • enable multi-factor authentication on the accounts of every service we use;
  • delete information once the retention period set out in this policy has passed.

14. Changes to this policy

We may revise this policy as the service changes or the law does. Where a change is significant, we will say so on this page and in the app.

15. Contact

For anything to do with this policy or the service, including the requests in section 12:
